Cookie Policy — Rize Camp Inc.
Last Updated: April 2026
1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Rize Camp Inc. ("Rize Camp," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website located at rizecamp.com (the "Site"). It is intended to help you — and the parents and guardians who visit our Site — understand what cookies we use, why we use them, and what choices you have.
We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA, RSA 2003, c P-6.5) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL, SC 2010, c 23). Under CASL, Sections 7 and 8, installing or activating any tracking software or cookies on a visitor's device without their prior express consent is prohibited, except where those cookies are strictly necessary to provide a service that has been requested. This means we will never place analytics, marketing, or advertising cookies on your device until you have actively agreed to them through our cookie consent banner.
This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which is available at rizecamp.com/post/privacy-policy.
If you have questions about this policy, please contact us at info@rizecamp.com.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your computer, tablet, or smartphone when you visit. They are sent back to the originating website on each subsequent visit, or to another website that recognises that cookie. Cookies are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to the website owner.
Session cookies are temporary. They exist only while your browser is open and are automatically deleted when you close it. They are typically used to keep track of your actions during a single browsing session — for example, keeping you logged in while you navigate between pages.
Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period of time, or until you delete them manually. They allow the website to remember your preferences and settings the next time you visit.
First-party cookies are set directly by the website you are visiting (in this case, rizecamp.com). Third-party cookies are set by a different domain — for example, by Google Analytics or Meta (Facebook) — and are commonly used for analytics and advertising purposes.
3. Cookie Categories
We group the cookies on our Site into four categories. Your consent rights differ depending on the category.
a) Strictly Necessary / Essential Cookies
These cookies are required for our website to function. Without them, services you have specifically requested — such as accessing your camp registration portal or completing a booking form — would not be possible. Because they are essential to delivering the service you asked for, CASL and PIPA permit us to place these cookies without first obtaining your consent. However, we are required to tell you about them, which we do here and in our cookie consent banner.
You cannot opt out of strictly necessary cookies through our cookie settings. You may block them using your browser settings, but doing so will prevent key parts of the Site from working correctly.
Examples include:
Maintaining your login session when accessing the registration or booking portal
Security tokens that protect our forms against cross-site request forgery (CSRF)
Load-balancing cookies that distribute Site traffic across servers
Core Wix platform cookies required to serve and render our website
b) Functional / Preference Cookies
These cookies allow the Site to remember choices you make and provide a more personalised experience. For example, they may remember your language preference or pre-fill a form field you have already completed.
While these cookies are not strictly essential to the basic operation of the Site, they improve your experience. We recommend obtaining your consent before placing these cookies, and our consent banner will ask for your permission accordingly.
Examples include:
Remembering a selected language or region setting
Retaining information you have entered in multi-step forms
Storing basic user interface preferences
c) Analytics / Performance Cookies
These cookies collect information about how visitors use our website — for example, which pages are visited most often and whether visitors receive error messages from certain pages. The information collected is aggregated and anonymous; it does not identify you personally.
We use this information to improve how the Site works and to ensure the content we provide is relevant and useful.
Under CASL Section 8, placing analytics cookies on your device requires your prior express consent. We will not activate these cookies until you have clicked "Accept" or given equivalent consent through our cookie banner.
Examples include:
Wix Analytics (built into the Wix platform)
Google Analytics (used to measure page views, session duration, and traffic sources)
d) Marketing / Advertising Cookies
Marketing cookies track your visit to our Site and may be used to show you advertisements that are relevant to your interests, or to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. These cookies are typically set by third-party advertising networks.
These cookies also require your prior express consent under CASL and PIPA. We will not place them until you have actively agreed.
Because Rize Camp serves families with children, we treat this category with particular caution. Our use of marketing cookies is intentionally minimal and is subject to the additional considerations described in Section 8 of this policy.
Examples include:
Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram ad tracking, if applicable)
Google Ads conversion tracking (if applicable)
4. Specific Cookies Table
The table below lists the individual cookies that may be placed on your device when you use our Site.
Cookie Name | Provider | Category | Purpose | Duration
_wix_browser_sess | Wix | Essential | Manages your browser session on the Wix platform | Session
hs | Wix | Essential | Security token used to prevent unauthorised access | Session
svSession | Wix | Essential | Identifies the user for Wix services (e.g. login, member areas) | 2 years
_ga | Google Analytics | Analytics | Assigns a random unique ID to distinguish individual users and track sessions across visits | 2 years
_ga_XXXXXXXX | Google Analytics | Analytics | Stores and updates the current session state for a specific Google Analytics property | 2 years
_gid | Google Analytics | Analytics | Assigns a random unique ID to distinguish users; used to generate statistical data on site usage | 24 hours
_fbp | Meta (Facebook) | Marketing | Used by Meta to deliver, measure, and improve the relevance of advertisements; only placed if marketing cookies are consented to | 3 months
Note: The cookies marked as Analytics or Marketing in the table above will only be placed on your device after you have provided your express consent. The cookies marked as Essential are placed as soon as you access the Site, as they are required for it to function.
5. Your Consent Rights Under CASL and PIPA
How We Obtain Consent
When you visit rizecamp.com for the first time, a cookie consent banner will appear at the bottom of your screen. The banner will:
Clearly explain that we use cookies
Distinguish between essential cookies (which do not require consent) and non-essential cookies (which do)
Ask you to actively click "Accept All" or select specific categories to consent to
Offer a "Reject Non-Essential" option that allows you to continue using the Site with only essential cookies active
We do not treat silence, continued scrolling, or closing the banner as consent. Only an affirmative action — such as clicking "Accept" — constitutes valid consent for non-essential cookies, as required by CASL.
How Consent Is Stored
Once you make a choice, your preference is saved in a cookie on your device so that the Site remembers it on future visits. This preference cookie is itself treated as essential, as it is required to honour and record your consent decision.
Withdrawing or Changing Your Consent
You have the right to withdraw or change your consent at any time. To do so:
Via our cookie settings: Look for the "Cookie Preferences" or "Manage Cookies" link in the footer of our website. Clicking it will reopen the cookie consent banner, allowing you to update your preferences.
Via your browser: You can delete all cookies stored on your device using your browser settings (see Section 6 below). Doing this will remove your stored consent preference, and the cookie banner will appear again on your next visit.
Please note that withdrawing consent for non-essential cookies will not affect anything you did before withdrawing. It also will not prevent us from placing strictly necessary cookies, which are essential to the Site's operation.
6. Managing Cookies in Your Browser
In addition to our cookie consent banner, most browsers allow you to control cookies directly through their settings. Below are instructions for the most common browsers. Please be aware that blocking or deleting cookies — including essential ones — may affect how our website works and could prevent you from using certain features such as the registration portal.
Google Chrome
Go to Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data. From here you can block all cookies, block third-party cookies, or clear existing cookies.
Mozilla Firefox
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data. You can manage cookie exceptions and delete stored cookies for specific websites.
Apple Safari (macOS)
Go to Safari → Settings (or Preferences) → Privacy. Check "Block all cookies" or manage website-specific data under "Manage Website Data."
Apple Safari (iOS/iPadOS)
Go to Settings → Safari → Privacy & Security. Toggle "Block All Cookies" or use "Advanced → Website Data" to remove cookies for specific sites.
Microsoft Edge
Go to Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data. You can block third-party cookies, set exceptions, or clear stored cookies.
For instructions on other browsers, please refer to the browser's official help documentation.
7. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies placed on our Site are set by third-party services that we use to operate and improve our website. These third parties set and control their own cookies, and their data practices are governed by their own privacy policies, not ours. We encourage you to review those policies.
Wix (website platform)
Our Site is built on the Wix platform. Wix places certain essential cookies as part of delivering and securing the hosted website service. For more information, see the Wix Privacy Policy.
Google (Analytics)
If you consent to analytics cookies, Google Analytics will place cookies on your device to help us understand how visitors use our Site. Google may process this data on servers outside Canada. For more information, see the Google Privacy Policy and Google's data retention practices.
Meta / Facebook (Advertising)
If you consent to marketing cookies, the Meta Pixel may be activated to measure advertising effectiveness. Meta operates globally and may process data outside Canada. For more information, see Meta's Privacy Policy.
We do not control how these third parties use the data collected through their cookies. If you are concerned, you can opt out through our cookie consent banner or by adjusting your browser settings.
8. Children and Cookies
Rize Camp is a children's day camp. Our website is primarily used by parents and guardians to register their children and access information about our programs. We take the protection of children's information very seriously.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the use of marketing or advertising cookies. We do not run targeted advertising campaigns directed at children.
Our use of marketing and advertising cookies is intentionally limited. Where such cookies are present on our Site, they are aimed at reaching parents and guardians, not minors. We do not use any interest-based profiling of children.
We recommend that parents and guardians supervise their children's use of the internet and, if a child is browsing our Site independently, consider adjusting browser-level cookie settings to provide additional protection.
If you believe that a child has inadvertently provided personal information through our Site, please contact us immediately at info@rizecamp.com and we will take prompt steps to address this.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, changes in applicable law (including updates to CASL or PIPA guidance from the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta), or improvements to our practices.
When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will post a notice on our website homepage. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Your continued use of the Site after any changes to this policy will constitute your acknowledgment of those changes. If changes affect how we use non-essential cookies, we will re-present the consent banner to obtain fresh consent where required.
